Livelihood

The disastrous waves of Tsunami made the livelihood of the Fisher Folks undecided. The livelihood programme ensured that these uncertainties were removed and it brought in new hope and courage in their lives. 432 boats, 445 Engines and 477 sets of Nets and 25 Katamarans were distributed benefiting 1672 families.

Skill Trainings

A variety of skill trainings Carpentry, Boat Repair, Diesel Mechanism, Electrical, Tailoring, Computers ands were provided for 202 youth from the 13 fisher folk hamlets adopted by CRDS. This was done with the view of providing alternative livelihood opportunities apart from regular the fishing activities.

Shelter

The herculean task in the rehabilitation of the Tsunami affected was that of the construction of Permanent Shelters. Of the 13 hamlets the Government signed an MOU with CRDS to take up Shelter project in 10 hamlets (9 Caritas & 1 KKS & Caritas). Based on this understanding with the Government CRDS is in the process of constructing 1444 houses.
